2027, Travis Reinhold will embark on a journey unlike any other. His mission: to conquer The Great Loop—an epic 6,000-mile waterway challenge—and attempt to break the current world record. But this is more than just a race against time. It’s a testament to resilience, a fight for survival, and a call to action.Brain cancer affects approximately 24,820 people every year, and survival rates remain painfully low. Travis knows this battle firsthand—he’s been fighting for nearly two decades. With your support, this journey can become more than an attempt to break a record. It can fuel research, provide hope, and show the world that brain cancer fighters are more than statistics.
Our Mission
At Looping For a Cure, our mission is clear:
Raise Funds
Raise vital funds for brain cancer research and treatment.
Today, brain cancer accounts for 1.2% of all new cancer cases but 3.0% of all cancer deaths. It’s a devastating diagnosis, often misunderstood by the public. Many assume that brain cancer means an immediate decline—that patients will be unable to function, that their days are numbered. Travis is proof that this is not always the case. With research, treatment, and the right mindset, survival is possible. This journey will show the world what brain cancer fighters are truly capable of.
The Great Loop Challenge
The Great Loop is an ambitious 6,000-mile journey through the United States’ interconnected waterways. Travis will start and end in Jacksonville, Florida, navigating through:
– The Eastern Seaboard to New York – The Hudson River to the Erie Canal – The Great Lakes, Ohio River, Mississippi River, and into the Gulf of Mexico – Around the Florida Keys and up the Eastern Coast
Just like his fight against brain cancer, this challenge will push him to his mental and physical limits. Fatigue, fear, and environmental obstacles will test him. But he will not face this challenge alone—his family and friends, the same support system that helped him through his medical fight, will be placed at key points along the journey.
The parallels between his fight with cancer and this event are undeniable. The journey will be grueling, but he will persist. Much like brain cancer patients undergoing treatment, it’s a test of endurance, mindset, and sheer will to survive.
Travis Reinhold is no stranger to adversity—or to fighting for his life.
In 2007, at just 35 years old, Travis was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor: an oligodendroglioma mixed with astrocytoma. With a devoted wife and three young children at home, he began a battle that would reshape every aspect of his life. What followed were two awake craniotomies, 24 months of chemotherapy, and 30 rounds of radiation. Through it all, Travis remained resilient. He refused to give up.
Brain cancer research remains underfunded, despite its devastating impact on patients and families. For the most aggressive form—glioblastoma—the 5-year survival rate is just 6.9%, with a median survival of only 8 months. Travis is fighting to change those odds.
